Electoral Literacy Club
An Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) is a platform initiated by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to engage school and college students through fun activities and hands-on experience to sensitize them about their electoral rights and familiarize them with the electoral process of registration and voting. In Kerala, the Chief Electoral Officer’s office has established ELCs to mainstream electoral literacy in educational institutions. The club aims to make students well-versed in electoral registration and voting procedures so they can cast enlightened votes.

To strengthen the culture of electoral participation among young and future voters.
Mission
Build a participative democracy in India by engaging school and college students through interesting activities and hands-on experience to sensitize them about their electoral rights and familiarize them with the complete electoral process of registration and voting.

Activities
NATIONAL VOTER’S DAY
The Electoral Literacy Club at Sir Syed Institute for Technical Studies (SSITS) organized an event to celebrate National Voters' Day on January 25th, 2026. The event, featured the tagline "Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure". The event was organised to make the students aware of the importance of voting and our role in democracy. The inauguration ceremony took place on January 29th at 10 AM in the Seminar Hall, with Mr. Rajesh T.V, the Village Officer of Kooveri, attending as the Chief Guest. The event included a welcome speech by Kadeeja P V, the Convenor of the Electoral Literacy Club. The presidential address was delivered by Dr. Siraj M V P, Principal of SSITS.P Mr. Rajesh T V, Village Officer of Kooveri, gave the inaugural address. Felicitation speeches were made by Mr. Shakkir P V, Coordinator of IQAC, and Fidha Noufal, the College Union Chairperson. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks given by a student from the audience.
