Microbiology

The Post Graduate Department of Microbiology at Sir Syed Institute for Technical Studies (SSITS) was established in 2002 with the vision of providing quality education in modern and emerging scientific disciplines, particularly for students from the educationally developing regions of North Malabar. The department offers B.Sc. Microbiology, B.Sc. Microbiology Honours, B.Sc. Microbiology Honours with Research, and M.Sc. Microbiology programmes, supported by industry-oriented certification courses such as HACCP Level 3, ISO 22000:2018, and FOSTAC. With a curriculum that integrates theoretical knowledge and practical applications, students gain expertise in clinical microbiology, biotechnology, food microbiology, pharmacy, agriculture, dairy technology, and environmental microbiology.

The department provides a research-oriented learning environment through well-equipped laboratories, advanced instruments, smart classrooms, and experienced faculty members. To enhance industry readiness, it regularly organizes workshops, seminars, industrial visits, internships, guest lectures, and project-based learning activities, along with career guidance and placement support. Over the years, the department has produced numerous successful graduates and postgraduates who are employed in reputed organizations in India and abroad, reflecting its continued commitment to academic excellence, research, innovation, and professional development.
