Objectives

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Sir Syed Institute for Technical Studies (SSITS), Taliparamba, is an integral part of the institution’s commitment to continuous quality enhancement and the promotion of a culture of excellence in higher education. Established in accordance with the quality assurance framework of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), the IQAC functions as a catalyst for institutional development, academic excellence and continuous improvement.

The IQAC works systematically to develop and sustain quality benchmarks in all major areas of institutional functioning, including teaching and learning, curriculum enrichment, research and innovation, student support and progression, infrastructure and learning resources, governance and leadership, extension activities and institutional best practices.

The Cell facilitates the systematic collection, documentation, analysis and utilization of institutional data for quality enhancement. It coordinates various quality-related initiatives and encourages departments, faculty members, administrative staffs and students to actively participate in quality improvement processes.

Major Functions of IQAC

  • Developing and implementing quality benchmarks and parameters for various academic and administrative activities.
  • Promoting innovative teaching-learning practices.
  • Facilitating continuous improvement in curriculum delivery and academic processes.
  • Encouraging research, innovation, entrepreneurship and knowledge creation.
  • Strengthening student support, mentoring, career guidance, placement and progression initiatives.
  • Promoting extension, outreach, community engagement and social responsibility.
  • Facilitating stakeholder feedback and ensuring appropriate follow-up action.
  • Ensuring systematic documentation and maintenance of quality-related records and evidence.
  • Coordinating academic and administrative quality audits, reviews and other institutional quality initiatives.
  • Preparing and submitting quality-related reports and documentation as required by statutory and accreditation bodies.
  • Identifying, documenting and promoting institutional best practices.
  • Creating awareness among stakeholders regarding quality assurance and accreditation processes.
  • Facilitating the preparation and submission of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) and compliance with other NAAC requirements.
  • Supporting the preparation and implementation of institutional development and quality improvement plans.

Objectives

  • Strategic Planning: To chart out a detailed plan for the function of each department / wing / section and device strategies to ensure the best outcome.
  • Capacity Building: To plan and organize capacity building programmes for teachers and students at various stages of their academic experience.
  • Promotion of Research and Publication: To facilitate quality academic research and publication among students and teachers and acknowledge them duly.
  • Stakeholder Participation: To promote all stakeholders to participate in the process of maintaining quality in all respects of the institution, understanding its socio-cultural background.
  • Technology-Enabled Learning: To ensure participatory learning with technology-assisted teaching methods and a student-friendly learning environment.
  • Data Management System: Maintaining the adequate database for the data required for the smooth functioning of the IQAC and recording data meticulously and up to date.
  • Feedback Mechanism: To design effective feedback systems from students, alumni, employers and other stakeholders to improve institutional process.
  • Documentation and Reporting: To maintain and manage institutional records systematically and prepare quality-related reports for NAAC and other bodies.
  • Institutional Mediation: To mediate between the management and institution in order to facilitate the growth and development of the institution.
