Sir Syed Institute for Technical Studies is a prestigious project of Cannanore District Muslim Educational Association (C.D.M.E.A) which also runs Sir Syed College, Keyi Sahib Training College, Sir Syed Higher Secondary School and Kurumathur South U.P. School. 

Sir Syed Institute for Technical Studies in Taliparamba, established in 2002, is an educational institution dedicated to providing technical education and fostering intellectual growth among its students. The institute is named after Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, a renowned Indian Muslim scholar and reformer who played a significant role in promoting modern education in India during the 19th century. Located in Taliparamba, the institute offers a range of technical courses aimed at equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their chosen fields. These courses may include engineering, computer science, information technology, electronics, and other related disciplines. Since its establishment, the institute has been committed to upholding the highest standards of education and academic excellence. Sir Syed Institute for Technical Studies is an unaided self- financing College affiliated to Kannur University.The Institute offers 4 PG courses in Computer Science, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry and 13 UG courses which are B.Sc. Computer Science, , B.Sc. Microbiology, B.Sc. Biochemistry, B.Sc. Biotechnology, B.Sc Psychology, B.Sc. Food Technology, B.Com.with Computer Application, B.Com.Finance, B.Com.Marketing, B.Com.Co-operation, B.B.A., B.A.English and B.A.Economics. It proposes on adding many more courses in future academic years, keeping in mind the growth and betterment of the students and society. Admission to all the courses is subjected to merit and management following all the norms of reservations laid down by the Government. The Institute possesses outstanding infrastructure and state of the art facilities. It also holds a computerized reference library with a well updated bibliotheca and a well-resourced IT Department. The Institute holds a well-equipped and matchless laboratory for the department of Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry than can easily keep pace with any of the modern research laboratories. Broadband access within the institute is smooth and uninterrupted. The institute also possesses a well-resourced video conference hall and seminar hall to conduct all the International and National Seminars and Webinars. The Institute owns adequate transportation system facilitating students in their conveyance.


The Institute provides individual hostel accommodations for both boys and girls. The ladies’ hostel is in the college premises and therefore ensures a safe and secured environment for the students. As a requirement of the Institution, separate prayer halls have been provided for Gents and Ladies. The college has a strength of about 1500 students, 60 teaching staff and 20 non-teaching staff. Our faculty includes three Ph.D bearers, four M.Phil degree bearers and several CSIR,UGC and ARS NET holders. Orientation programmes are regularly attended by our teachers to keep in pace with the new norms and be updated with the educational system. We are proud to have several international publications to our credit and have two novel gene sequences deposited in the NCBI. We have an extensive library with 5114 books and 10 journals. Our students have excelled in their fields of study and have various fellowships to their credit. The BIRAC fellowship attained by two of our students from the department of Biotechnology was a remarkable achievement for our institution. Our students have also been continuously earning fellowships such as INSPIRE, STEC proving their academic excellence every year. We also hold an alumnus of several PhD holders and CSIR NET, ARS NET, UGC NET bearers.

The students are expected to come to the College in a prescribed uniform. However, the P.G. students have been exempted from this uniform, but they are expected to maintain modesty in their dress code as per the practice adopted by the College. It has to be noted here that wearing T- Shirts in the College while coming for the classes or any formal function is not permitted. As a part of disciplinary code, it has been decided, not to permit parking of three wheelers/four wheelers used by students for transit to the college and back, inside the College campus. Under no circumstances will such a concession be accepted by the College administration. The College has zero tolerance towards ragging. Under no circumstances is such hooliganism permitted. Such students suspected or caught indulging in ragging will be punished after due enquiries asper the rules and regulations.
