BIOTECH PROFESSIONAL SUMMIT
The Department hosted the Biotech Professional Summit on January 13th and 14th, 2025, aiming to provide students with insights into the latest trends, innovations, and challenges within the biotechnology industry. The summit was officially inaugurated by Dr. Anish Kumar P.K, a Research Scientist at Advanta Seeds, Hyderabad, Telangana. Day 1 featured a series of engaging presentations. The first speaker was Dr. Anish Kumar P.K, who delivered an insightful talk on “Digital Breeding: New Age Exploration of AI and NGS in Plant Molecular Biology and its Applications in the Seed Industry”. Following this, Session II was led by Dr. Dileep Kumar R, Founder and Director of Indriyam Biologics Pvt Ltd, Trivandrum, who discussed “Bioentrepreneurship: Opportunities and Challenges”. Day 2 saw three more sessions. Dr. Maneesh Thomas, CEO of the Manipal-Government of Karnataka Bioincubator, Manipal, Karnataka, provided valuable insights on “Emerging Trends and Opportunities for Bioentrepreneurs” in the first session. Sessions IV and V were conducted online. Dr. Jasna J. Mohan, Director of Clinical Genomics and Scientific Affairs at Progenesis India Pvt Ltd, Delhi, presented on “Current Advancements in Biotechnology: Transforming Medicine and Healthcare”, offering a deep dive into innovations within the healthcare sector. Mr. Rashid SP, a Food Safety Trainer at The CorpBridge Quality and Standardization Consultants, Dubai, UAE, concluded the summit with a session on “Building a Career in Food Safety: Exploring Job Opportunities and Certification Paths”, providing guidance on career opportunities in the food industry. The summit provided an enriching platform for students to learn from distinguished experts and gain a deeper understanding on bioentrepreneurship.
