The National Cadet Corps (NCC), established in 1988, remains relevant and continues to fulfill its mission in today’s socio-economic environment. The NCC aims to foster character, discipline, comradeship, a secular outlook, a spirit of adventure, and a commitment to selfless service among young people. Its mission is to create a pool of trained, motivated, and organized youth with leadership skills, who contribute to nation-building across various fields, regardless of their chosen career paths. Additionally, the NCC provides an environment that encourages young Indians to consider careers in the armed forces.
As a leading youth organization in India, the NCC is dedicated to shaping the minds and bodies of enthusiastic students. Through a focus on discipline, social service, and leadership, the NCC aims to instill a sense of responsibility and the spirit of adventure in cadets. Students who are physically able and interested may enroll, and attendance at scheduled parades is mandatory. Parades are typically held on holidays to avoid disrupting academic activities.
An NCC cadet who maintains at least 75% attendance over three academic years may receive additional marks for admission to higher education, with reserved seats for eligible cadets in various professional courses. Special weight age is also awarded for admission to specific programs. The NCC has an intake of 56 cadets, with 35% of seats reserved for girls.
