Born at Thazhe Chovva, Kannur on 04-05-1959 as son of Haji C.M.Kutty and Mrs.K.M. Aysha. Studied at Chovva Govt. L.P.School, Govt. City High School, Kannur S.N.College and Aligarh University. Started career as Lecturer at Sir Syed College, Taliparamba on 21-12-1982 and retired on 31-05-2015 as Principal of the same college. Served as Course Director of Department of Environmental Studies, Kannur University and also Research guide in Botany. Popularly known as environmental scientist, bird watcher and wild life photographer. Got 3 National awards. Visited many countries to present research papers. Published 3 books and 53 research papers.

RADIO PRESENTATION

More than 30 Speeches and dialogues were broadcasted in FM Radio (akasavani) and TV channels like Asianet, Indiavision, Reporter, Surya, Amrutha etc. on environmental issues and conservation.

SHORTFILMS PRODUCED

Two short films namely, ‘Life line of wetlands’ and ‘Mangroves & Wetlands’ were produced and script written. The ‘Lifeline of wetlands’ was selected for exhibition in Global Environmental Film Festival held at Japan. 

SCIENCE POPULARIZATION PROGRAMME

Conducted Science Popularization and awareness Programme on the conservation of Biodiversity and Ecosystems in various schools and institutions with the help of Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment, Trivandrum.

MANGROVE AND SACREDGROVE AFFORESTATION

Conducted Mangrove afforestation programme at Valapatanam with the help of love green students of oisca international planting 5000 saplings. Afforestation and conservation of sacred groves are also conducted at Iriverikkavu, Thayakkavu and Pattuvamkavu.

MEDICINAL PLANT GARDEN IN SCHOOLS

Organized ‘schooliloruoushadhathottam’progamme of Kerala Medicinal Plant Board and Oisca in various schools.

MANGROVE CONSERVATION ACTIVITIES

  1. Consultant of Mangrove afforestation in 5 ha land near Valapatanam bridge at  Aroli Panchayath of Kannur District in 1997 under the auspices of Oisca International.
  2. Attended and Presented research papers on Mangroves at the International Conferences held at Bucharest, Romania (Ramsar Convention), Jakartha, Indonesia, Mauritius and Malaysia.
  3.  Served as President of Mangrove Conservation forum of Kannur District.
  4. ·Supervised 4 students as Research Guide of Kannur University who studied different aspects of Mangroves and awarded Ph.D.
  5. Written and published a book namely “Mangrove Wetlands of North Malabar’. 
  6. A mangrove sacred grove namely Thayakkavu at Thekkumbad of Kannur District was conserved with the aid of state Medicinal Plant Board and Nature club of Sir Syed College.
  7. Organized UGC aided National Conference, as Programme-co-ordinator,on ‘Environmental  
  8. Challenges and sustainable development ‘held at Sir Syed College on 4th and 5th march 2009
  9. 38 Research papers are authored and published in International and national Journals on Mangroves
